Road Trip London - Gozo.

Day 17 Castroreale - Mirabella Imbaccari, Sicily.

This will be our last night in Italy (we think) and we are heading to the southern most part of Sicily. We left Green Manors on a beautiful sunny day and headed south for 100 miles to our next accommodation called Agriturismo Gigliotto. Seventy miles of the journey was on the autostrada with the last 30 miles on country roads, a nice easy drive. We now have 2500 miles under our belt and although the trip has been great we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and have set out sights on home, Gozo that is of course.

We found Gigliotto without any trouble as it is well signposted, it is a huge farming operation in a lovely setting on top of a hill with beautifully restored farm buildings, this place is more of a country estate than a smallholding it produces figs, grapes, artichokes, olives, aubergines, tomato's, peppers, pears, peaches and cherries, also makes it's own wine.
The accommodation although comfortable was not to such a high standard as we had witnessed elsewhere on the trip at this price level, and the food while not bad was very basic.
We are around 50 miles from the ferry here and will be heading to Pozzallo tom morrow to catch the ferry.....we hope, because we have not prebooked any tickets.
